Mechanical Engineer to IK Subsea

About the role

IK Subsea AS is a team of more than 40 employees delivering tailored engineering solutions, repair, and maintenance for offshore subsea and pipeline systems. The company has a proven track record delivering effective solutions and technologies in challenging subsea environments, with over 500 completed projects, for both major and smaller oil operators worldwide.

Projects at IK Subsea typically range from 10-25 weeks, with some projects running for several months. You may work on one or several projects at the same time, depending on the workload and project requirements. You will be involved in both pre-studies and delivery projects, giving you the opportunity to follow projects through different stages of the project lifecycle. Projects vary in scope and can involve a range of mechanical equipment and specially fabricated tools used for offshore operations, such as clamps, plugs, lifting tools and other project-specific solutions. As IK Subsea is a project-based organization, you will work as part of a multidisciplinary project team consisting of engineers and other functions. Depending on the project, the team may include Project Managers, Lead Engineers, Technical Authorities, Project Engineers, Document Controllers, Procurement Officers, Financial Controllers and Lead Mechanical Engineers.

As a Mechanical Engineer, your role is to develop initial concepts and perform calculations based on the project’s design specifications. You may also be involved in the assembly and testing of the equipment together with the Lead Mechanic at the workshop. Once all design specifications have been met and the product is finished, you will finalize the necessary technical documentation and ensure that the equipment is ready for shipment to the offshore site. You will be part of an engineering team of 16 engineers across our Stavanger and Poland offices. The team brings together engineers with different levels of experience, creating a collaborative environment where knowledge and experience is exchanged.

Work tasks

• Take technically demanding equipment from initial concepts and calculations through fabrication, testing, and offshore deployment, seeing your engineering decisions brought to life
• Develop mechanical concepts, layouts, calculations and technical documentation in accordance with project requirements, standards and customer expectations
• Solve complex engineering and execution challenges, make technical decisions, anticipate risks and take ownership of technical deliverables within your assigned scope
• Collaborate closely with other disciplines, suppliers and project functions to coordinate interfaces and ensure successful project execution
• Support engineering activities related to manufacturing, assembly, testing, installation, commissioning and troubleshooting as required
• Contribute to engineering changes, product improvements, lifecycle support and continuous improvement of engineering processes and ways of working

We are looking for

• A minimum a technical college degree (fagskole) in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
• A minimum of four years of experience working as a Mechanical Engineer, Structural Engineer, or in a related discipline
• Experience with Autodesk Inventor or another CAD system
• Professional proficiency in English, both written and spoken
• Valid work permit for Norway

It is an advantage if you have:

• Experience in the Subsea or Oil & Gas Industry
• Knowledge of Pressure Vessels, Subsea Pipelines, or Structural Engineering
